Quality statement

The Northern Ireland Regional Immunology Service (NIRIS) is committed to providing a service of the highest quality and shall be aware and take into consideration the needs and requirements of its patients and users. 

 

Scope of the clinical service

NIRIS includes the Regional Immunology Laboratory and Clinical services and is based on the Royal Hospitals site of the Belfast Health and Social Care trust (BHSCT). NIRIS is the only provider of specialist immunology and allergy services in Northern Ireland. The laboratory is Clinical Pathology Accreditation-UK accredited (www.cpa-uk.co.uk ) and lab testing information is available at

  • We predominantly provide outpatient and day case clinical services as well as consultative advice on a regional basis.
  • We work closely with colleagues throughout the UK and the rest of Europe.
  • We are registered with and awaiting accreditation inspection against the standards of the United Kingdom Primary Immunodeficiency Network (UKPIN: www.ukpin.org.uk) and are also preparing for accreditation of allergy services during 2014 http://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/resources/improving-quality-allergy-services-iqas-registration-scheme

  • As founding members of the Immunology Group of Ireland (IgI), subsequently the Irish Academy of Allergy and Immunology (IAAI), we have close links with our colleagues in the Republic of Ireland and meet annually to present and discuss current clinical issues.
